چکیده

This paper presents the design of a compact integrated UWB-UHF RFID solution enabling simultaneous wireless data and power transfer. The described integrated dual-band antenna is designed to cover the lower European UWB 3.1 to 4.8 GHz band for communication and localization functions and the European UHF RFID 868 MHz band for RF Energy Harvesting. Simultaneous operations are guaranteed by means of a proper feeding and matching network, a threeport diplexer, in a compact, low-profile solution. In order to fulfil eco-compatibility requirements, both the radiating system and the matching network are designed on paper substrate. Index Terms  Ultra wideband antennas, UHF antennas, Radiofrequency Energy Harvesting, RFID.

Impulse Radio UWB for the Internet-of- Things A Study on UHF/UWB Hybrid Solution

This dissertation investigates Ultra-Wideband (UWB) techniques for the next generation Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) towards the Internetof-Things (IoT). In particular, an ultra-high frequency (UHF) wireless-powered UWB radio (UHF/UWB hybrid) with asymmetric links is explored from system architecture to circuit implementation. Context-aware, location-aware, and energy-aware computing fo...

Passive Rfid Antenna for Uhf and Uwb Application

The intent of this paper is to compare two designs of RFID antenna which is used for Ultra High frequency (UHF) and Ultra wideband (UWB) applications. Here the comparison of Hybrid design and XETS design is done. In hybrid design the antenna simultaneously operate on both the bands viz.UHF as well as UWB. In XETS design antenna operates only for UWB. Hybrid antenna is planar antenna. There is a...

A remote-powered RFID tag with 10Mb/s UWB uplink and -18.5dBm sensitivity UHF downlink in 0.18µm CMOS

A remote-powered UWB RFID tag in 0.18μm CMOS is presented. The innovation is to employ asymmetric communication links, i.e. UWB uplink and UHF downlink in order to achieve extremely low power, high data rate and accurate positioning. Measurement shows the tag can operate up to 10Mb/s with minimum input power of 14.1μW, corresponding to 13.9 meters of operation range. Wireless sensing and positi...

Backscattering UWB/UHF hybrid solutions for multi-reader multi-tag passive RFID systems

Ultra-wideband (UWB) technology is foreseen as a promising solution to overcome the limits of ultra-high frequency (UHF) techniques toward the development of green radio frequency identification (RFID) systems with low energy consumption and localization capabilities. While UWB techniques have been already employed for active tags, passive tags solutions are more appealing also due to their low...

UHF RFID Reader Antenna

This chapter addresses the various design issues, requirements, and specifications in designing reader antennas for UHF RFID applications. In a typical UHF system, the RFID reader antennas are geography specific; that is, there are different antennas for different geography, namely North America, Europe, et cetera. The discussion on the design challenges and performance expectations lead to a n...
